Description:
Have you found yourself that what you know about ethics does not always apply when providing Play Therapy services, and that it needs to be adapted? There are seven areas of ethics that need to be adapted when working with minors. Come learn about these seven and how to address them.
Have you found yourself also in situations in which the rules of ethics seem to be grey and you are not sure what to do? In this training you will learn about different decision-making models to help guide you in these situations! Don’t miss this great opportunity to learn about these seven areas and how to make decisions when situations seem to be grey.
Objectives:
- Upon competition of this course, participants will be able to accurately identify the 7 areas of ethics that are unique to Play Therapy
- Upon competition of this course, participants will be able to explain the importance of ethics for the clinician as well as for the client and their families.
- Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to implement Decision Making Models in difficult situations

Presenter bio:
Laura da Silva is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Registered Play Therapist – Supervisor. She earned a Bachelors in Psychology from Utah State University and a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix. She has been working as a therapist for over 10 years. She owns her own private practice in Riverton – Lighthouse Counseling Services. She has published 3 articles and 3 books. She has also presented on self-esteem as well as Depression, in the community. Her specialties include child therapy, EMDR, self-esteem, trauma and abuse, depression and anxiety. She is fluent in the Portuguese language. As well as spending time with her husband and 4 children, she enjoys going camping, snowboarding, and making craft projects in her spare time.
