Calling all witches, wizards, and play therapists! Are you ready to embark on a magical journey of self-discovery and therapeutic growth guided by the wonders of the wizarding world? This interactive workshop delves into the power of play therapy, using the beloved Harry Potter universe as a captivating lens to explore “self” as a play therapist.
Through playful exercises and thought-provoking discussions, you’ll:
-
Wield the Wand of Self-Awareness: Explore personal strengths, values, and potential biases through play therapy exercises and reflections.
-
Face your Personal Boggarts: Through creative exploration we will face our Boggarts together, unearthing core fears and anxieties that may interfere with your effectiveness as a play therapist.
-
Embrace the Magic of Creativity and Innovation: Integrate playfulness and imagination into your therapeutic approach. Become aware of the magical powers of self-awareness in the here-and-now in the play therapy relationship.
-
Celebrate the Diversity of Hogwarts: Foster inclusive therapeutic practices by examining diverse representations within the wizarding world and beyond. Examine your own bias when working with little witches and wizards that belong to a different house.
So, get ready to make your own wand and join us on this transformative adventure where the Sorting Hat becomes a symbol of self-discovery, and the Room of Requirement represents the boundless potential within each of us. Remember, magic lies not just in spells and potions (play therapy techniques), but also in the connection we forge and the strength we find within ourselves. Let’s unlock the magic within and become the best play therapists we can be!
Note: This workshop is not endorsed by J.K. Rowling or Warner Bros but is endorsed by the ministry of the association for play therapy
The workshop explicitly incorporates principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout its content and delivery. The presenter will create an inclusive space for open dialogue and exploration of cultural considerations in play therapy. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own cultural identities and biases, fostering cultural humility and culturally responsive practices.
