President Elect – Lynn Hollingshead, CMHC, RPT-S

Lynn provides children a safe environment in which they can find their voice.  His training is in child-centered play therapy, sandplay, and expressive therapies which allow children a unique chance to express themselves. While adults express their experiences in words, children express their experiences in play.  Lynn is a member of APT and received his Registered Play Therapist credential recently in October 2017.

Lynn graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science with a Psychology emphasis.  He then received a Master of Science from Westminster College in Mental Health Counseling in 2014.  His internships have included experiences with Carmen B. Pingree Center for Children with Autism in Salt Lake City and Odyssey House of Utah in the Parents with Children program.  Lynn has also spent the last five years teaching radKIDS (a personal empowerment program for children) at a local elementary school.  After graduation he worked for Redwood Family Therapy, Landmark Family Therapy and the Center for Sandplay and Expressive Therapy in training to earn the hours and experience necessary for his Clinical Mental Health Counselor license which he received in September 2017.  Lynn currently works for Clear Horizons Clinical Services working with children, parents and families primarily in the foster care system doing much of his work providing in-home services.

Lynn works with the entire family to develop a systemic approach to healing and hope.  He believes that when one member of the family shows symptoms of distress it takes the entire family to create healing. Lynn works with all children and families, including those with behavioral issues and those on the autism spectrum.  Teaching replacement behavior and providing children with structural support while helping parents better understand their child is the primary goal.

Lynn is a parent of five wonderful children and has found that it is the most rewarding (and toughest) job he has ever had.  He believes parenting is an investment that we make in raising our children, giving them roots and wings simultaneously.   Lynn loves to play with his children and spend time researching and learning new things.  Lynn’s hobbies include drawing, woodworking, and building Lego creations with his children.
