The Utah Association for Play Therapy is very pleased to present AutPlay® Therapy with Dr. Robert Jason Grant. This unique training event brings you specific play therapy approaches and interventions to address the sensory processing challenges inherent with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Conference Description Day 1 & Day 2:
Day 1 Description: This training presents an introduction to the AutPlay Therapy approach, an integrative Play Therapy and Behavioral Therapy approach to working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), neurodevelopmental disorders, and other developmental issues. The phases of treatment, primary and secondary target goals, and parent involvement will be covered. Several play therapy interventions designed for children with ASD will also be presented through experiential participation, session clips, and case examples. Day 2: Description: This training explores using play therapy approaches and interventions to address sensory processing challenges. An overview of sensory processing challenges will be covered along with descriptors of the eight sensory processing areas. The benefits of non-directive and structured play therapy will be covered as well as the foundations and research for using play therapy with sensory issues. The concept of a sensory play diet will be defined and explored. Several play therapy inventions designed to help with sensory issues will be presented through experiential participation and video examples.
Dr. Robert Jason Grant
Dr. Grant specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families affected by autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders. He is the creator of AutPlay® Therapy, an ASD and neurodevelopmental disorders approach incorporating play therapy, behavioral therapy, and relationship development approaches. Dr. Robert Jason Grant is a licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and Advanced Certified Autism Specialist. He owns and operates the Robert Jason Grant Ed.D AutPlay Therapy Clinic.
Dr. Grant is an international speaker and keynote presenter having presented for the American Counseling Association, Association for Play Therapy, American Mental Health Counselors Association, and The World Autism Congress. He is a multi-published author of several articles, book chapters, and books including the following best-selling books:

Day One Title: AutPlay® Therapy: Introduction and Foundations
1) Participants will be able to identify the components of AutPlay Therapy including the phases of treatment and parent/family involvement.
2) Participants will be able to outline the theoretical underpinnings of AutPlay Therapy including play therapy models and behavioral therapy.
3) Participants will be able to demonstrate the assessment process in AutPlay Therapy, including conducting an autism screening.
4) Participants will be able to identify play deficits and how to structure effective play therapy interventions for children with ASD.
5) Participants will be able to explain the three primary and three secondary target treatment areas in AutPlay Therapy.
6) Participants will be able to list several play therapy interventions used in AutPlay Therapy.
Agenda (6 hrs):
Early Morning Session – Understanding ASD and neurodevelopmental disorders, play deficits, and implications for play therapy.
Late Morning Session – Understanding AutPlay Therapy, the three phases of treatment, theoretical underpinnings, and parent involvement.
Early Afternoon Session – Conducting assessment in Autplay Therapy and designing effective play therapy interventions.
Late Afternoon Session – Experiential play therapy interventions, session clips, case examples, and participant questions.
Day Two Title: Using Play Therapy to Address Sensory Processing Challenges
1) Define what is meant by sensory processing issues and how these issues can present in play therapy sessions.
2) Identify several play therapy interventions that can be used to address sensory processing challenges.
3) Outline a sensory play therapy diet to help children with sensory struggles.
4) Identify how to make their play therapy room and offices sensory friendly.
5) Conceptualize the foundations of using play therapy with sensory challenges.
6) Explain research related to play, play therapy, and sensory processing.
Agenda (6 hrs):
Early Morning Session – Understanding sensory processing challenges, diagnosis, assessment and screenings, and implications for play therapy.
Late Morning Session – Understanding the eight sensory processing areas and implementation of play therapy interventions.
Early Afternoon Session – Play therapy foundations for working with sensory issues and using nondirective and directive play therapy approaches.
Late Afternoon Session – Creating a sensory friendly playroom, a sensory play diet, implementation of play therapy interventions, and participant questions.
Participants who attend the one-day AutPlay Introduction and Foundations training can then compete the full AutPlay Certification online. At the end of the one-day training, participants will be given a special code to register for the online training at a discounted rate. This option is great for those who want to go beyond the one-day training and complete full certification.

UAPT Cancelation Policy
Registration cancellations must be submitted to UAPT in writing. The Conference fees, minus a $75 administrative charge, will be refunded only if the request is postmarked, or emailed to email@example.com, 30 days prior to the conference or workshop. Registration refunds will not be made within 30 days prior to the conference or workshop. No refunds will be given to parties who register but do not attend. Registrations may be transferred to another person without penalty only if original registrant notifies UAPT.
UAPT reserves the right to cancel this conference in the event of unforeseen circumstances. If such occurs, UAPT will attempt to notify registrants at least 10 calendar days prior to the conference and refund all registration, workshop, continuing education fees.
